Terms of Service

Last updated: August 12, 2026

These Terms of Service govern your use of Grind — the Grind mobile app and the joingrind.io website. Grind is operated by Andrew Lacelle and Michael Ambra, based in Ontario, Canada. By creating an account or using Grind, you agree to these Terms. Questions? Reach us at info@joingrind.io.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Grind. If you're under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you represent that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use Grind.

Creating an account

You'll need an email, password, username, and display name to use most of Grind. You're responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for keeping your credentials secure — let us know at info@joingrind.io if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

Using Grind

Grind lets you log workouts, view your personal records and Grind Score, save reusable workout templates, set up a weekly workout split with reminder notifications, and connect with other users through following, reactions, comments, and streak challenges.

Your content

You own the content you create on Grind, including your workout data, comments, and profile information. By submitting content, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, transmit, display, and process it as necessary to operate Grind — for example, showing your workouts to people who follow you, calculating Grind Score and personal records, and generating a shareable PR card when you request one. This licence doesn't give us ownership of your content, and we don't sell it or use it for advertising. It ends when you delete the relevant content or your account, except where a copy reasonably persists in backups for a limited time, or was already shared with and retained by another user before deletion.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect and how we use it, and forms part of these Terms.

Grind Score

Grind Score is our own proprietary metric, calculated from the weight, reps, and (if you've provided them) bodyweight and gender behind your logged sets. It depends on the accuracy of what you enter. It's not an official competition score, a certification, a medical assessment, or a scientifically validated measure of athletic ability — and we may change how it's calculated over time.

Community standards

Treat other users with respect. You agree not to harass, threaten, or impersonate others; post hate speech or sexually explicit content; reveal someone else's private information without consent; send spam; create fraudulent accounts; falsify workout data to manipulate your Grind Score; scrape Grind or access it through unauthorized automated means; reverse-engineer the app where prohibited by law; upload malware; infringe on others' intellectual property; or use Grind unlawfully.

Reporting and moderation

If you encounter content or conduct that violates these Terms, contact us at info@joingrind.io. We may review, remove, or restrict content, and suspend or terminate accounts, that we determine violates these Terms — including taking immediate action where we believe it's necessary for safety or security.

Fitness disclaimer

Grind is not a doctor, physiotherapist, dietitian, or personal trainer, and nothing in the app is medical advice. Grind Score is not a medical assessment. You're solely responsible for determining whether an exercise or training program is appropriate for you, and should consult a qualified professional about your own health and training decisions. Grind doesn't guarantee any particular training outcome or the accuracy of Grind Score.

Service availability

Grind is provided "as is" and "as available." We don't guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or that any particular feature will remain available — we may modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service at our discretion, with notice where reasonably practicable.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Grind and its operators aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of Grind. Our total liability for any claim won't exceed the greater of CAD $100 or what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing here limits liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or anything that can't be limited under applicable law.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify Grind and its operators against claims, damages, or expenses arising from your content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of another person's rights — except where the claim arises from our own breach of these Terms or negligence.

Intellectual property

The Grind name, logo, "Grind Score," and our software, design, and branding are owned by Grind or its licensors, as applicable. Using the app doesn't give you ownership rights in this material. Using Grind doesn't give us ownership of your workout data merely because it's stored with us.

Account suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account for violating these Terms, illegal activity, abuse, fraud, security threats, or manipulation of the Service. You can delete your account anytime from Settings.

Account deletion

Deleting your account removes your profile, workout history, and social activity from our active systems, as described in our Privacy Policy. Some information may briefly persist in routine backups before being fully purged.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and applicable federal laws of Canada, subject to any rights or protections that cannot lawfully be waived under applicable law. We encourage you to contact us first at info@joingrind.io to resolve any concern directly; unresolved disputes are subject to the courts of Ontario.

Changes to these Terms

For minor changes, we'll update the date above. For material changes that significantly affect your rights or obligations, we'll give you more direct notice — such as an in-app notification or email — before they take effect, and where appropriate, we'll ask for your renewed acceptance.

Apple App Store

If you downloaded Grind from the Apple App Store: these Terms are between you and Grind, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Grind, and no warranty obligation except, where applicable, a refund of any purchase price. Apple isn't responsible for Grind or for any claims related to it, including product liability or intellectual property claims. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
